Move into a new, energy-efficient home and save energy

Before the turn of the century, heating accounted for around 75% of energy consumption in a home, while today, this has been reduced to around a third.

Housing with energy efficiency classes A and B

All housing sold by Thon has an energy efficiency class of A or B.

“From 2023, all of our housing development projects under construction have energy efficiency class A, which is higher than the regulatory requirements,” says David Höglund.

He is project manager for housing construction at Thon and says that if a building is to be energy efficient, the process starts during the construction phase.

"Thon uses future-oriented and climate-friendly solutions. Good insulation, airtight construction, multilayered windows and a ventilation system with heat recovery save a considerable amount of energy," says Höglund.

Ventilation system with heat recovery

Controlling indoor air quality and temperature can be challenging, especially during periods of fluctuating weather and temperature conditions.

Thon solves much of this problem with a ventilation system with heat recovery in the homes it builds.

"The system recovers heat from the air to be replaced and adds it to fresh air from outside. This reduces temperature differences between the air in the room and incoming air and reduces unpleasant draughts," explains the project manager.

This way, you don't waste any heat and can heat the home, while keeping the windows open at the same time.

"You can also control the supply air temperature and airflow in certain areas. This allows you to influence your energy consumption, su ch as by reducing ventilation to a minimum when you're out."

Environmentally friendly

Höglund adds that living in an energy-efficient home is also better for the environment.

"Lower energy consumption means a smaller carbon footprint. This means that those living in these apartments can also contribute to slowing down climate change," he concludes.
