Strømmen has it all

Whether you are already familiar with Strømmen or are considering moving there, Strømmen is a charming and centrally located urban centre in the municipality of Lillestrøm close to everything you need: cafés, great recreational opportunities, activity centres, Strømmen Stadium and, of course, Strømmen Storsenter, with 200 shops and eateries.

Things to do

Strømmen is a safe place to live, close to woods and recreational areas. Our new housing development project, Strømmen Verksted, is close to kindergartens, schools and a wide range of activities. The neighbourhood boasts a library, bingo hall and bowling alley, not to mention Strømmen Storsenter, Norway’s second largest shopping centre. A cultural centre, cinema and Strømmen Stadium are also close by.

The Skedsmo school of music and performing arts offers a wide selection of activities for children and adults interested in music, theatre, visual arts and dance.

Want to hear the birds chirping and see ducks bathing in the river? Along the Sagelva River, the Sagstien path gives you easy access to a picturesque 1.7-kilometre path that can also be used by wheelchair users.

Strømmen's best location

Geographically, Strømmen is located between Lillestrøm and Lørenskog, only a five-minute drive from both.

Our housing development project Strømmen Verksted is only a few minutes’ walk from the bus stop and railway station. It only takes 20 minutes by car and 30 minutes by train to the Oslo city centre and 28 minutes by train to Oslo Gardermoen Airport.

With history intact

Historically known for both sawmills and the production of railway wagons and prefabricated buildings, Strømmen still has a strong focus on tradition.

Strømmen Verksted is being built on the former site of Strømmen Værksted, where, among other things, the first metro cars for Sporveien were produced.

Once part of the world’s first steel foundry, Aktivitetshuset Staals is now a three-floor vintage gym and part of Strømmen Storsenter. They offer group classes, fitness equipment and table tennis, as well as outdoor, recreational and social activities. The centre also has a coffee bar and classic car rentals.

Facts and figures about Strømmen

Strømmen Storsenter was Olav Thon’s first shopping centre development and Thon Eiendom is still investing heavily in the area.

A growing urban centre

While several housing developers have chosen to invest in Strømmen, we see that more and more people are choosing to live here. Thon Eiendom is one of the largest developers in the area and has sold nearly 400 apartments here.

Strømmen Verksted will also add a significant number of high-quality and varied meeting places to the area. The central square has the potential to become a popular meeting place in Strømmen, with a wide selection of outdoor activities, easy access to the planned water park and other activities, a sunny outdoor environment with food service and an important cultural heritage site.

"Many people say that Strømmen is a dream location, so there’s no doubt that this is a great place to live!"
