Born and raised in Lørenskog, Solvei is a self-declared Lørenskog patriot. He is centre manager of the Triaden shopping mall, which is located in the heart of Lørenskog.
“Lørenskog has a very central location and is a place full of opportunities,” he says.
Urban centre area
The popular Triaden shopping mall has undergone a comprehensive facelift with expansion and renewal. At Triaden, you can visit over 100 new shops and eateries, including a new activity centre.
As centre manager, Solvei monitors the area's development closely and can describe many exciting plans for the centre.
Among other things, it is planned to extend the metro line 2 from Ellingsrudåsen in Oslo to Lørenskog.
“In addition, a new multi-purpose hall the size of two handball courts has been built next to the shopping mall, as well as a new sports hall at Fjellhamar School,” he says.
Cultural experiences for the whole family
Lørenskog offers a range of cultural opportunities. Lørenskog House is the municipality’s cultural meeting place offering numerous cultural experiences for the entire family. This beautiful building is the venue for concerts, theatre, children’s theatre, dance and art exhibitions. There is also a cinema, library, school of performing arts and various cafés and restaurants.
Less than ten minutes from Lørenskog you can find less well-known gems such as Losby besøksgård (visitors centre). Here, you can take a walk through the barn to visit the animals. If you visit the farm frequently, you can rent your own hatchery, so you can watch chicks coming into the world. The visitors centre also offers canoe rentals or riding tours.
The traditional hotel Losby Gods is located in beautiful natural surroundings, adjacent to Losby Golf Club, one of the best golf courses in Norway.
Ski all year round
The area around the urban centre is also close to sports and nature experiences.
Lørenskog is not far from SNØ, the world’s wildest indoor all-year-round arena for winter adventures. Thon Hotel Snø has also recently opened its doors in connection with the facility.
Here, you can go cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, freeskiing and snowboarding. If you want an extra challenge, we recommend a trip up the Mammut Wall, a 15-metre-high ice block weighing no less than 180 tonnes, where you can try ice climbing in safe surroundings.
Østmarka: Your new local area?
Fantastic Østmarka invites you to endless hiking opportunities all year round. In winter, miles of ski slopes are driven diligently, to the delight of all ski enthusiasts.
Losby is a good starting point for Østmarka. Losby is home to Losby Riding Centre, with stables and riding arena, and Losby besøksgård (visitors centre) with swimming areas, cycle paths and canoe and lavvu rentals.
If you love local history, you can take a trip to historic Losby Gods, which is located in scenic surroundings. This majestic property from the 1800s has housed both royalty and a number of other prominent guests over the years. The property also has one of Norway’s finest golf courses right outside the door, and the hotel offers various activities all year round.
Mariholtet mountain café is also a popular destination for many tourists. If you love fishing, Østmarka is a favourite place for sports fishing.
