Allocation rules

The allocation rules for the Diagonale student housing include the purpose, definitions, allocation criteria, exceptions, duty of disclosure, application deadlines, priority criteria and entry into force.

1.    Purpose

These rules apply to the allocation of student housing at the Diagonale. 

2.    Definitions

Student: A person who is a student of a study programme or an apprentice in Oslo and Akershus.
Full-time student: A person enrolled in a full-time study programme.
Full-time study programme: A degree programme of 60 credits over two semesters.
Academic progress: The number of credits a student earns for having passed exams per semester.
Normal academic progress: Passed exams worth a total of 30 credits per semester.
Eligibility: Person who meets the requirements of these rules.  

3.    Award criteria

3.1 The following criteria apply to the allocation of student housing at the Diagonale: 

3.1.1 Full-time student

3.1.2 Semester fee paid to school

3.2 The following criteria apply to obtaining a new lease agreement at the Diagonale student housing:

3.2.1 Full-time student

3.2.2 Minimum of 50% academic progress
3.2.2.A For first-year students, the academic progress requirement is 15 credits.
3.2.2.B For studies with an annual final exam, an average academic progress of 30 credits is required each year over a period of two years of study. 
3.2.2.C For others, satisfactory academic progress is at least 30 credits per academic year.

3.2.3 Paid semester fee

3.2.4 The applicant may live at the Diagonale student housing for a maximum of four years.

3.2.5 The applicant may not have previously violated the lease agreement, including not having paid rent or other violations of the lease agreement or other instructions. 

3.3 The following criteria apply to the allocation of housing in the event of a relocation or leave of absence:

3.1. Students whose main occupation is studying.

3.2. Other than students. 

4. Exceptions

4.1 From point 3.2 above, the following exceptions apply
4.1.1 In the event of a leave of absence from the study programme due to pregnancy, illness or other valid reason, the minimum academic progress requirement may be deviated from. 

4.2 Exceptions require a written application to the Diagonale student housing. The application must contain:
4.2.1 Written confirmation from LÄnekassen of the authorised sickness allowance for the period for which exemption is sought, or
4.2.2 Confirmation from the school that a leave of absence from the study has been granted due to pregnancy or illness.

4.3 An approved application reduces the requirement for academic progress corresponding to the length of the sick leave period. The maximum exemption period from the academic progress requirement is one academic year. The requirement of a maximum residence period of five years is absolute in any case.

5. Duty of disclosure

5.1 The applicant is required to provide correct and complete information about all relevant circumstances for the
assessment of the application.

5.2 If the applicant withholds or provides incorrect information of material importance, the lease agreement may be considered invalid and the lease may be terminated.

5.3 The Diagonale student housing has the right to verify the information provided and to request confirmation of the information.

5.4 The Diagonale student housing has the right to verify that residents meet the eligibility criteria during the lease. 

6. Application deadlines

6.1 Student housing at the Diagonale is rented on an ongoing basis.

6.2 An application for a new lease contract for current residents must be submitted by 1 March.

6.3 Applications for exemptions from academic progress must be submitted by 1 March. 

7. Priority criteria 

7.1 The following applicants are prioritised: 
7.1.1 Current residents 
7.1.2 Younger applicants 
7.1.3 Time of application

7.2 The Diagonale student housing reserves the right to rent out housing on an ongoing basis if necessary.

8. Entry into force 

These allocation rules apply from the given date.
