Long-term and targeted efforts rewarded with award win
"We see this as a victory for love!"
These are the words of a proud centre manager at AMFI Madla, Anette Øfsti Worum, after receiving the 2019 Shopping Centre of the Year award.
"When we talk about MadlaLove, we're talking about using emotions to create a nice ambience at our centre. It's not so much a campaign, but our very soul. We've also received feedback that the AMFI Madla has a great ambience. We've been working towards this for many years, so it's fantastic that both customers and tenants have noticed our efforts," says Anette.
Gry Flataker, who is the regional manager for shopping centres at Thon Eiendom, agrees that this award is the result of targeted and long-term efforts on the part of centre management.
"We 're extremely proud that the AMFI Madla won the award! They've succeeded in creating a centre with an exciting retail mix and personal relationship to customers," says Gry.
The head of the shopping centre division in the Olav Thon Group, Thomas Rønning, also agrees that the award is well deserved:
"The Olav Thon Group is extremely proud to have won the Shopping Centre of the Year award and the AMFI Madla is a well-deserved winner in our eyes! Anette Worum and the rest of the centre team do an excellent job and 'MadlaLove' was a huge success. We congratulate her and her team at the AMFI Madla," says Thomas.

Great ambience and high customer satisfaction scores
The jury's statement mentions the inviting common areas, excellent service and good retail mix.
"The marketing strategy focuses on a unique message that clearly appeals to customers, tenants and centre team members. There is a great ambience and the stores have helpful staff who succeed in delivering good service without being pushy. Customers give the centre the highest possible score in every category in this year's award. They have done an amazing job at creating a good mix of sectors and chains. This has been achieved by not only rearranging the existing tenants, but also by adding new chains and a number of local businesses," says the jury foreman Jomar Asbøll.
The Shopping Centre of the Year award was presented during the Shopping Centre Conference on 17 October.
