New Triaden: "The idea is to redefine the concept of a shopping centre"

The Thon Group is currently working on a major development project at Lørenskog. A central part of this development is the expansion of the Triaden.

Vibrant urban space between shopping centre and new residential project

The development is taking place at Skårersletta between the Triaden shopping centre and Skårerløkka residential project. The new section of the shopping centre was completed in the autumn of 2023 and the residential project is currently under construction.

"We're creating a vibrant urban space. This is a large and ambitious urban development project that will result in a completely new urban centre in Lørenskog," explains Carl Nicolai Lundgreen Vold, development manager at Thon Eiendom, and continues,

"What makes this project so exciting is that it includes commercial premises, a beautiful new shopping centre, restaurants and new apartments all in the same place. A large multi-purpose venue, a park and beautiful outdoor spaces will also be added and tie the various elements together."

The architect behind the project, Rakel Helling, explains that the idea is to redefine the concept of a shopping centre.

"The Triaden is being transformed from a closed box into an urban centre concept with open facades on all sides. This is important for creating a more vibrant street scene," she says.

Entertainment, culinary experiences and recreation

The Triaden was originally a large shopping centre with around 75 stores over three floors. It has now been expanded on one side with around 12,500 square metres facing the Skårerløkka residential project.

A sports arena has also been built the size of two handball courts and a new underground parking garage with a park on top is being constructed.

The sides facing the park now have several outward-facing restaurants, including SOT bar & burger, Tandoori 9, Sabrura Sticks & Sushi and Baker Nordby. Liv og Røre has also opened its doors, with entertainment for the entire family.

Creating the 'third space'

"Our primary goal is to create the third space for the majority of people," says Jørgen Lund Solvei, centre manager of the Triaden.

"The first space is the home and the second the place of work. We want to create the third space where people can socialise, spend time with family and friends or simply relax alone," he says.

New Triaden has everything you need under one roof:

  • 43,500 m² of retail space
  • 5,000 m² of eateries, restaurants and cafés
  • 6,000 m² of activities
  • 6,000 m² of health & wellness, office and public services
