About the centre
The Strømmen Storsenter is located in Strømmen near Lillestrøm, 15 kilometres north of Oslo and halfway between Oslo Airport Gardermoen and the Oslo city centre. Its central location near the infrastructure and public transport hub in Strømmen and plenty of parking make it easy to visit the centre.
The main airport region is Norway's fastest growing area in terms of commercial and population development. The shopping centre has been expanded several times and in 2021-2022, the oldest section of the centre was extensively refurbished. The Strømmen Storsenter has been named Shopping Centre of the Year in Norway twice, most recently in 2015.
The centre is continuously evolving and an explicit goal is to be relevant and up to date in both the retail mix and service options, as well as in the marketing activities taking place in and around the centre.
Market and customer base
The Strømmen Storsenter is the shopping centre with the highest turnover in the Oslo region and is a regional centre for residents north of Oslo in Romerike (population of 330,000) and the northern part of Oslo, home to 250,000 people. The Storsenter's primary market is around 580,000 residents with a broad demographic profile. This means that both high-end and low-price shops enjoy a high sales volume at the Strømmen Storsenter.
Retail mix
The Strømmen Storsenter has a broad range of shops, comprised of international, Norwegian and local retailers, as well as food service establishments. The centre is the leading fashion house in the region, with over 80 shops specialising in clothing, shoes and accessories. It is also the regional market leader in fashion, sports, cosmetics and home goods (including electronics).
Local development
Virtually right next door to the centre, the Olav Thon Group has launched the development project Strømmen Verksted, consisting of a large number of residential units, and plans to establish facilities with a focus on health, wellness, culture, business and sports.
